Choir Pianist
The Choir Pianist plays piano for choir rehearsals and accompanies the CUUC Adult Choir on Choir Sundays.
Reports to: Music Director
Coordinates with: Choir Director
Hours and schedule:
– Weekly choir rehearsals (currently Tuesdays 7:30 – 9:15 p.m.) from late August – mid-June;
– Two Sunday morning worship services per month from September through June as well as Christmas Eve.

Duties
– Accompanies the Adult Choir at designated services.
– Accompanies the Adult Choir at weekly rehearsals.
– Prepares recorded tracks of vocal parts and accompaniments as needed.
Qualifications
– Strong pianistic skills.
– Strong sight-reading ability.
– Experience with collaborative music-making, especially working with singers and choruses.
– Ability to play in a variety of classical and contemporary styles, from both sacred and secular traditions.
– Sensitivity to precepts of Unitarian Universalism.
– Ability to work supportively under direction of Choir Director.
– Ability to work with Choir members, congregants, and staff colleagues in a tactful and respectful manner.
Additional Separately Compensated Opportunities
– Accompanies Choir at special services, installations, memorials, etc
– Substitutes for Choir Director at rehearsals on occasion.
– Substitutes for Music Director at Sunday morning services, including hymn accompaniments and solo piano works.
– Performs at summer worship services.
– Attends additional rehearsals and accompanies the choir at church concerts.
