Music is Part of Our Spiritual Journey

CUUCWP Music

The professional musicians on staff at CUUC seek to provide a spiritual dimension in worship and community life. Since 1990, our music program as a whole has been overseen by Music Director Adam Kent. Since 2001, our choir has been directed by Lisa N. Meyer and assisted by pianist Georgia Pappas.

Our musical programming regularly includes works by composers of various racial, religious, and national backgrounds. A diverse range of compositions from popular and classical traditions are used as well. We are blessed to have received an endowment from the estate of a longtime member, which enables us to invite guest performers several times a year. These opportunities for “special Sunday music” help us to enrich our regular program of solo piano and choral music with chamber works, jazz, and examples of world music.

Volunteerism is an important facet of our musical programming. CUUC is fortunate to count a number of gifted musicians among its members. Our choir members are all CUUC congregants, and a small budget exists for professional section support on occasion. In addition, the Music Committee assists with event planning and supports the music staff.
