Sunday Worship Service

2025 July 20, 10:00am, “The Care and Education of Children with Complex Physical Disabilities: a Global Perspective” – Adine Usher, EdD, guest worship leader

Dr. Usher offers reflections on the history of disability care; the current, global state of caring for and educating students with complex medical conditions; and the exceptionally successful and growing Acts of Life Tanzania Disability Center in Morogoro, Tanzania, in East Africa (https://actsoflifetanzania.org/charity).

The Sun Jul 20 Online Order of Service will be available shortly.

ABOUT OUR GUEST SPEAKER: Adine Usher has been both a UU and an education specialist for students with orthopedic and neuromuscular disabilities since 1961. She became a member of CUUC in 1978. A published author, her focus has been on the complex interactions between brain injury, movement disorders, health concerns, communication and intellectual challenges, sensory problems, and social/emotional development. Adine’s interest in the global challenges faced by these students with disabilities, and their families and caregivers, has taken her to countries around the world. She is currently training and supporting, online and pro bono, teachers and parents in Morogoro, Tanzania, and in Trinidad and Tobago.

In the summer we meet in air-conditioned Fellowship Hall, with members of CUUC leading our July services. These Sundays are less formal so people can participate more and get to know one another better. The nursery is staffed for young children starting at 9:45am. Religious Exploration classes are on summer break, so we invite families to worship together, and we offer an area for quiet play. All are welcome to stay after worship for light refreshments and conversation.

Our Sunday worship service is livestreamed on Zoom. To join, log in to: bit.ly/CUUC-Worship, or phone (audio only): 646-876-9923. Webinar: 761 321 991, Passcode: 468468.
